Our decisions act as bricks that build upon a foundation - they are the building materials. When we make wise decisions that are rooted in the Word of God, we are building on a firm foundation. When we make foolish decisions, we have no sound foundation upon which to build a solid lasting structure and what we build has no ability to uphold a solid structure. With each wise decision, rooted in the wisdom of God, we are creating a structure that is able to withstand storms, inclimate weather, or even natural disasters. With each foolish or unwise decision, we are building with materials that are flimsy, substandard and have the ability to compromise the integrity of the building. This can leave us exposed to the elements and provide no protection from the elements. Foolish decisions are those made without the wisdom of God, in our own reasoning, understanding or the philosophies of man and this world. Psalm 14:1 declares, The fool hath said in his heart, "there is no God. Foolish decisions come out of the same failure or refusal to acknowledge God. Proverbs 3:5-6 says trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.
As women, God has given us the grace to build our households, manage the affairs of our lives and steward the relationships He has blessed us with. We must have the wisdom of God to walk in this grace and to build effectively. Our decisions are key to building lasting structures - a joyful committed marriage, a home that is a peaceful loving environment, a household that is managed in a way that facilitates the goals and aspirations of her and her family. When we make wise, godly decisions, we are building a strong foundation and a solid structure where a nurturing environment that is conducive to growth can be cultivated and maintained. Foolish decisions do just the opposite and make it difficult to grow and be all that Go desires for us and our loved one to be. The woman is not alone in the responsibility but she is very instrumental in the success or failure of building. Each decision is an opportunity to build wisely. Our foundation must be the Word and Wisdom of God. To build on anything else is to build a substandard structure - whether it is a home, marriage, or business. There will come a time when that which has been built will be tested and only that which has been built upon Christ will stand.
1 Corinthians 3:13
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the days shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
So, let's examine what we have built. It's demotion day. Let's tear down what we have built that is not of God and build as wise women.
