"The Excavator"

As a 25-year veteran educator-librarian, I have served as both an ELA teacher and school librarian. As a middle school writing teacher, I instructed students in creative fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry and research skills. As a recipient of the Ezra Jack Keats Award I established a spoken word anthology for middle schoolers and sponsored a two -semester long writing workshop for middle schoolers entitled “Writing Our Lives” through an Ingram- Castle grant. In 2020 I received the Teacher’s Dream Grant to fund a virtual school community book club. In 2018 I was awarded the Helen Jenkins Davis Award for my work as a librarian to support Social Justice initiatives for the  Columbus City Schools.

MY BOOK

This book takes one on a refreshing yet challenging journey through the process of Self-Excavation. The reader is engaged daily with habit-changing activities. The process involves stillness, greater magnification of God and the ability to grapple with uncomfortable questions that provoke deep thought about the values you hold dear to your heart.
